I like it much better and do not have to contend with the bead breaking. | Re: Color of beads on a carolina rig [Re: Randy Parks] #10444723 11/30/14 03:43 PM | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,682 Chet Extreme Angler | Extreme Angler Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,682 | Mauve if you're hip enough.................... | Re: Color of beads on a carolina rig [Re: soonersorlaters] #10446769 12/01/14 07:08 PM | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 4,293 Bigron119 TFF Team Angler | TFF Team Angler Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 4,293 | I use red but pretty sure it does not matter much. Have had a bass hit the weight/bead a few times. Feels like the sharp tap of a t rig bite vs the more typical c rig strike where the rod just kinda loads up Not sure a clear bead would keep that from happening but if they were in stores id go clear But really it's whateves I'm sure LOL - That must have been some seriously clear water for you to see that. I have had Kentucky's hit the bead/weight also. But I was using a brass weight. I don't think in most water clarity situations that the color is going to make a difference. You are not trying to catch the fish on the beads. They are for noise. If you get too many hits on your weight/beads then go to a slip jig for your weight. BUT if you fish tournaments then you should check the rules. Some of them have incorporated additional lures on a single fishing line as similar to an Alabama Rig and are therefore not legal in the tournament. BUT to the original question. Get the cheap "purty" ones at hobby lobby. Color doesn't really matter. | Re: Color of beads on a carolina rig [Re: slim 285] #10446850 12/01/14 07:42 PM | Joined: Jun 2013 Posts: 1,589 'Ole Man Extreme Angler | Extreme Angler Joined: Jun 2013 Posts: 1,589 | Color doesn't matter on a C-rig, but on a t-rig I use red or clear. Paint coating the surface of the beads would slightly dull the sound of beads clacking against each other and/or the weight, rocks, wood, etc. Plastic and glass beads packaged for fishing are not painted, it is just the color of the plastic or glass. Painted beads are for making necklaces and bracelets. | Re: Color of beads on a carolina rig [Re: slim 285] #10447898 12/02/14 04:24 AM | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 15,485 ezbassin TFF Guru | TFF Guru Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 15,485 | The color bead you use on a C-rig does not matter. Do not use a glass bead if you use a tungsten weight. | Re: Color of beads on a carolina rig [Re: Bigron119] #10447986 12/02/14 06:26 AM | Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 514 balazs Pro Angler | Pro Angler Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 514 | I use red but pretty sure it does not matter much. You are not trying to catch the fish on the beads. I know of someone that caught a fish with just the brass and beads because it slipped through the basses gills and got wedged outside its gill cover. | Re: Color of beads on a carolina rig [Re: big mike] #10447989 12/02/14 06:36 AM | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 4,048 Robert Hunter TFF Team Angler | TFF Team Angler Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 4,048 | I quit using beads years ago on Carolina rigs. this with more pressure on our lakes that ever I have not had any decline in the catch rate with no beads. So many cranks are coming out with a silent line I think the vibration an disturbance is enough to trigger the bite.
